Unpopular opinion: I was at the 2013 Boston Marathon finish line and the official story about the pressure cookers never added up for me.
After seeing the blast pattern and talking to a first responder from Engine 33, I've always questioned why the FBI's report on the explosive devices felt rushed and incomplete, so has anyone else looked into the conflicting witness statements from that day?

The 12 page FBI report always seemed thin to me too. I used to brush off questions about the investigation, but @sean_torres71 mentioning the ATF's different blast assessment is a solid point. That specific conflict in the official reports is what finally made me reconsider.

Digging into primary source documents like the trial transcripts helped me sort through the noise. It's tedious, but cross-referencing those with the early news footage sometimes shows what changed.

The official FBI report on the pressure cooker bombs was only 12 pages. I spoke to a reporter who covered the trial, and he pointed out the witness statements about a van on Newbury Street were never fully explained in court. In my own digging, I found the ATF's initial blast assessment differed from the final cause and origin report. It makes you wonder what got left out during the rush to close the case.
