Last week's steel delivery almost shut down our whole site in Phoenix
We were expecting 40 tons of I-beams for a mid-rise frame on Tuesday morning. The truck showed up at 6:45am, but the driver had the wrong permit for the route through downtown. He got flagged at a weigh station and sat there for 3 hours while we had a crew of 12 standing around. My foreman kept calling me every 10 minutes asking where the load was. We ended up renting a smaller crane for the afternoon just to keep the pour schedule alive, that cost us an extra $1,800. I checked the paperwork myself this time and the broker had the wrong axle count on the permit, plain as day. Has anyone else dealt with permit mismatches ruining an unload window? What do you do besides double-checking everything twice?
