Switched from paper tickets to a dispatch app on a 6 week job in Stamford and the paper was better
We ran a 6 week fit-out in Stamford and the super pushed us to ditch paper tickets for a dispatch app on our phones. By week 2 the drivers were standing in the loading zone waiting on spotty signal while the concrete trucks kept coming, and two pours got bumped because nobody could pull up the ticket. With paper I could write the pour number, time, and gate on the slip and hand it over in 10 seconds, no login, no dead battery. How is everyone handling drivers who won't touch a phone on site?
We had the opposite happen on a job in Bridgeport last summer, phone tickets actually cut our wait times because the plant could see exactly where the trucks were. I get the signal thing though, that's brutal when it's spotty. Maybe the answer is having both, paper as backup for the guys who won't deal with the app?
