Customer told me my color was too dark... she was right about 3 weeks later

Had a regular come in last month, wanted a deep brunette. I mixed up a 3N and she kept saying it looked black. I told her it would fade... but honestly I was annoyed. Three weeks go by and she texts me a selfie saying it finally settled in perfect. I gotta stop being so defensive when clients give feedback right after the appointment. Any of you ever had a client know their hair better than you thought?

Funny enough, I used to think the same way but this one changed my mind completely.

Honestly yeah, had a similar thing happen with a kitchen remodel last month. Customer was dead right.

Wait, you mean you actually listened to a client and she turned out to be right? That's wild because I used to be the same way, getting all defensive when someone questioned my work right after their appointment. I had this girl tell me her highlights were too warm right after I did them and I was so sure they'd cool down in a week. Nope, she was totally right, they stayed brassy. It really made me step back and realize some people just know their own hair better than we give them credit for. Now I try to at least pretend to consider what they're saying, even if I'm still a little annoyed inside.
