Had a client last week who insisted on a 'sunset ombre' but brought in a picture of a literal sunset over a lake.

Hope you charged extra for the landscape art.

Last year a woman showed me a photo of a peacock feather for her "mermaid hair." I pulled out my color swatch book and matched the teal, emerald, and purple she was actually seeing in the iridescence. We did a teal base with chunky violet and green face-framing pieces. She left happy because I translated the vibe, not the literal image. Sometimes you just have to be a color interpreter.

Honestly that's the best way to do it. I had a client bring in a sunset pic and we went with peach and pink melts instead of trying to copy clouds.
