My curling iron died mid-client and I had to improvise
This happened last Tuesday with a regular who wanted beach waves. I was halfway through her hair when my go-to iron just shut off. No warning, no smoke, just dead. It was a $65 one I got about a year ago. I had to act fast, so I grabbed my flat iron and a spray bottle. I dampened small sections and wrapped them around the flat iron barrel, holding them for a bit. It actually worked and she loved the looser curl it gave. But man, that was stressful. What's your backup plan when a key tool fails during an appointment?

Honestly that flat iron save is kind of genius. My backup plan is just to panic quietly and hope the client doesn't notice.

That flat iron trick would've saved me so much stress last year.

My cousin's wedding last spring was a total mess because I tried to do her hair in the car on the way there, and I ended up burning my hand on the flat iron and we had to stop at a drugstore for aloe vera. @keith_rivera19 I feel you on the panic quietly thing though, because that was basically me while my cousin just gave me this look like "you said you knew what you were doing." Idk, maybe the trick is to test it on a paper towel first or something, but I definitely wished I had seen that tip earlier.
