My instructor's blowout method drove me nuts but she was right
Back in beauty school in Portland, my instructor kept pushing this weird way of wrapping sections before blow drying. I thought it was a waste of time, especially when clients were waiting and I could just rough dry and call it good. She'd say 'work smarter, not faster' every time I tried to shortcut it. Took me about 4 months of doing it her way on real heads before I noticed my finishes lasted way longer and looked smoother. Now if I skip the wrap, I can see the frizz come back by hour two. Any other grads fight their teacher's method only to adopt it later?

My buddy Kyle fought our instructor on the same thing for like six weeks. He was doing house calls for old ladies and thought sectioning was just for show. Then he did a perm wrap on this one client and skipped the blow dry method, and she called the salon two days later complaining her hair looked like a sheepdog. He re-did it her way and the lady tipped him double. He never skipped it again after that.
