My switch from a 45-minute color correction to a 90-minute process

For a long time, I rushed through color corrections, aiming to get them done in about 45 minutes to keep clients happy. I'd mix and apply quickly, hoping for the best. After a client in Cincinnati last fall had a result that was just 'okay' and not great, I changed my whole approach. Now I block out a full 90 minutes, do two detailed consultations before even mixing, and use a test strand every single time. It costs more for the client, but the results are perfect. Has anyone else made a similar switch and had clients actually appreciate the extra time and cost?

Totally get where you're coming from. I used to think faster was always better too, just trying to keep the books full. Had a similar wake up call with a client who was just not thrilled with her color. Now I take that extra time for a real consult and a test strand, no shortcuts. My clients pay more but they come back every time because it looks right. Honestly, it changed my whole view on what a good service really is.

Exactly. Quality over speed every time.

I used to rush too, but a bad toner result made me slow down like you and @the_wyatt said. That extra consult and test strand makes all the difference for a happy client. It's worth the extra time for sure.
