PSA: I've been wrapping foils wrong for 10 years - a client caught it
I had a client named Diane last Tuesday who's been doing hair at home since the 90s, and she pointed out that my foil wraps were all crinkled at the edges. I thought I was doing fine, you know, just folding them in half and sliding them in. But she showed me how the crinkles let color bleed through, and I realized every single highlight I've done for the last decade has been leaking. I went home and tested it with some old foils and food coloring, and she was totally right. The creases create tiny gaps that let the lightener escape and mess up the pattern. Now I'm wondering how many clients I've given patchy results because of this dumb mistake. Has anyone else had a random client drop knowledge on them like this?

Oh wow, now I need to check my own foil technique tonight!

Wait, does that mean I've been doing the same thing wrong too? I always thought the crinkles were fine since they helped keep the foil in place, but now I'm second-guessing my whole highlight game.
