Rant: A client told me my blowout technique was frying her hair

She came in last Tuesday and straight up said, 'You hold the dryer way too close, I can feel the heat damage.' I was using my usual Revlon dryer on high heat about two inches from her roots. I tried her way, holding it a full six inches back and using a lower temp with a concentrator nozzle. The finish was way smoother and shinier, honestly. Has anyone else had to totally rework their heat styling method after feedback?

Man, that's rough to hear from a client. But isn't it wild how a simple change in distance makes such a huge difference? I used to scorch my own hair by holding the dryer right up against it, chasing speed. Now I keep it back like you did, and my hair just looks healthier, way less of that fried, crunchy feel. It's a hard habit to break but totally worth it.

Yeah, that "smoother and shinier" finish is a total game-changer, I had the same lightbulb moment last month.

Right, the "lightbulb moment" thing. I mean, what was it that finally clicked for you? Was it seeing a side by side comparison, or did you just notice it on something you use every day? I'm curious because it took me forever to even see the difference, and now I can't unsee it.
