Rant: Why I stopped hating on those big salon chains

I used to roll my eyes every time someone mentioned going to a Ulta or a Supercuts for their hair. Thought it was just lazy and bad quality. But last month I had to work a popup event in a mall next to a regular chain spot. Watched their stylist handle 3 walk in clients in under an hour with color corrections that looked solid. Not perfect but way better than I expected. Makes me think maybe the hate is more about snobbery than actual skill. Anyone else had a moment where they changed their mind about a certain type of salon?

Noticed the same thing honestly... skill is skill no matter where you find it.

Oh absolutely. A few years back I needed a quick trim before a family thing and my usual girl was booked solid for two weeks. I walked into this chain place near my house figuring I'd just get the basics done and maybe have to fix it later. To my surprise the stylist actually listened to what I wanted and spent time talking through how my hair was growing out. She even showed me a better way to dry it at home that saved me a ton of time. I kept going back for almost a year until she moved away. Good people can work anywhere.

Ngl "Good people can work anywhere" hits hard. I had this whole snobby phase where I judged chain salons super hard because I thought I was too cool for them. Then I ended up at a Supercuts once after a dye emergency when my regular girl was out and the stylist there fixed my patchy mess in like 20 minutes without making me feel dumb about it. Honestly felt like a total clown for being so judgmental before. Like here I was acting all fancy and this person just quietly saved my hair while I sat there with my tail between my legs.
