Spent forever tweaking a 30-minute balayage that took me 4 hours lol
I was doing this caramel balayage for a client in Denver and the sectioning just kept feeling off even though I've done it a million times before. Ended up re-doing the foils three times because I couldn't get the saturation right without it looking blotchy. Has anyone else had a simple service turn into a whole day project for no good reason?

The 30-minute balayage is the biggest lie in our industry, it's basically a unicorn that doesn't exist. Mine turned into a 5 hour ordeal last week because my foils kept slipping and I had to start over twice. Your client probably thought you were giving them a premium experience for free, so at least you look like a hero.

Three re-do's on foils is honestly just a rite of passage at this point... I've done the same thing with a lived-in look where the weave just wouldn't lay right and I had to pull everything out twice. That 30-minute promise is basically a trap we all fall into, at least your client got a free masterclass in patience and precision.

...I mean everyone keeps acting like this is some huge tragedy but honestly its just hair dye. Like yeah it sucks when it takes longer than you planned but the client is still getting their hair done right? They're not going to remember the extra hour they sat there they're going to remember how good it looks when you're done. The whole rite of passage thing cracks me up too like we're all going through some epic battle every time we touch foils. Its really not that deep
