Switched from foil highlights to balayage on a client last month, huge difference

I had a client with really fine hair who kept complaining about the line of demarcation showing up after 3 weeks with foils. Tried balayage on her last appointment and the grow-out looks way softer and more natural. Has anyone else seen better retention with balayage on thin hair?

Totally jumping on this bandwagon because I had the exact same thing happen with a client who had baby-fine hair. Foils gave her that harsh line after two weeks no matter what I did, but balayage made her look like she just naturally has sun-kissed hair forever, and she books way less often now. It's like magic for thin hair honestly.

Have you ever noticed how everything in life is moving away from harsh lines and toward softer blends? It's like with phones and watches too - remember when that sharp glass edge was supposed to look modern, now everything's curved and seamless (like balayage). My wife's hair is super thin and she had the same problem with foils, the grow-out looked like a skunk stripe after two weeks. Balayage changed the whole game for her, she can go six weeks easy before needing a touch-up. It's just a nicer way to deal with hair that doesn't hide mistakes well (if that makes sense).

Heard a stylist say balayage saves thin hair from looking like a stripey mess.
