The mirror at the salon on 5th Ave in Portland taught me more than any class I paid for
I was sitting in the chair at my own salon on 5th Ave in Portland getting my hair done by a coworker last week, which I almost never do, and I noticed the mirror right in front of me had a big smudge on it. I sat there for like 20 minutes staring at that smudge and realized I never notice this stuff when I'm the one standing behind the chair. My client sees this every single appointment. I got up right after and wiped it down and then looked at my station like I was a client for the first time in 3 years. There was product buildup on my shears, a pile of hair under the dryer chair, and my brush cup looked gross. I spent $80 on a nice mirror setup when I opened and I let it get cloudy for months without even seeing it. So now I sit in a client chair once a week and just look at my station from their angle before I open. Does anyone else do this or did I just get lucky catching that smudge?
