Appreciation post: how crane seat cushions have changed since 2010
I hopped into an older Link-Belt from 2008 last week and my back was killing me after two hours. Then I got back in my 2022 Grove and the seat felt like a totally different world, way more support and adjustment options. Has anyone else noticed how much better the newer cabs feel after a full shift?

That "my back just retired" line really hits home. I read somewhere that modern crane seats have actual lumbar support curves designed by ergonomics people, not just a flat slab of foam with a cover. Night and day difference between sitting on a park bench versus an actual supportive seat.

Honestly thought it was just hype until I sat in a new Grove for a full shift. Now I get why everyone's been upgrading their old machines.

...and my buddy who runs a fleet of older Terex machines finally broke down and bought a new Tadano last spring. First thing he texted me was a photo of the seat controls with the caption "my back just retired, this is insane". Said he went from needing a chiropractor every month to zero visits after the switch.
