Changed my outrigger pad setup on a muddy site in Portland, lesson learned
We had a soft ground situation last Thursday out near the river, and I kept sinking the rear outrigger on the third pad placement. I swapped from wide timber mats to a double layer of 4x4s cribbed under the pad, and the stability was way better after the second try. Took me about 45 extra minutes to set up, but the boom felt solid through the whole 12 picks. Anyone else run custom cribbing on questionable soil, or do you just trust the factory pads and pray?
