Finally got the hang of spotting for a 150-foot tower crane in tight spots

Honestly, for like six months I was always a bit behind the ball when my signalman was guiding a load around the building corner on the downtown Phoenix high-rise job. Tbh, watching a guy from the steel crew, Mike, do it last week was the game changer. He showed me to focus on the hook's shadow on the ground instead of just the load itself, and now my swings are way smoother. Anyone else pick up a little trick like that from another trade on site?

Shadow watching, huh. Seems like a lot of fuss for moving a box from point A to point B.
