Nearly dropped a 3 ton beam over the lunch truck in downtown Seattle
I was working a high rise job in Seattle last Tuesday, lifting a steel beam up to the 8th floor. My tag line guy got distracted by the food truck horn and let the load swing right toward a crowded sidewalk. I had to feather the boom down quick and bring the load back to the truck bed before anyone got hurt. The foreman bought me a coffee after and said he'd seen worse. Has anyone else had a close call because of a distraction on the ground?

Oh my, I used to think minor distractions were no big deal but that story sure changed my mind.

That sounds terrifying. Glad you kept a cool head and nobody got hurt. Distractions on a job site can turn bad real fast, can't they?
