Noticed something odd at a job site in Portland

I was working a high-rise project in downtown Portland last month and saw a crew using nylon slings on a steel beam lift. My old foreman would have thrown a fit, he always swore by wire rope for anything over 10 tons. Has anyone else seen this shift toward synthetic gear on heavy loads? I’m wondering if it’s a regional thing or if I’m just behind the times.

Your old foreman would have thrown a fit" - man, that hit home. I've seen the same shift and it still feels wrong to me too.

Did you ever push back on it back then or just go along with the way things were?
