I used to think my first draft had to be perfect before I could move on
For years, I'd write one paragraph and then edit it for an hour, getting stuck on page one. About six months ago, I read a book by a writer from Austin who said to just write the whole messy thing first. Now, I set a timer for 30 minutes and just type without stopping, even if I write 'this is bad' in the middle of a sentence. It's gotten me through three short stories I never would have finished before. Anyone else switch from editing-as-you-go to just powering through a rough draft?

Honestly it's just writing though, right? Like it's not brain surgery. Getting a few stories done is cool but maybe we overthink this stuff.

Ugh, my first draft was a total mess though.
