My beef with basic writing prompt generators
As a writer who uses prompts daily, I've hit a wall with most online sources. They rely on basic word pairs that do nothing for me. For example, a few days ago, I scrolled through a site that promised fresh ideas. All I found was 'mysterious door' and 'old artifact' over and over. This lack of depth makes it hard to start a story that feels new. I think prompts should come with a hint of setting or character conflict. Without that, they're just empty phrases. We deserve better tools to fuel our writing.

So when you say a coward forced to be brave writes itself, does that still risk being another basic pair? I mean a flaw alone feels like just another word without the context the original post wanted. Maybe the trick is forcing that flaw into a very specific, awkward situation.

What if prompts focused on a person's flaw instead? Something like a coward forced to be brave writes itself.

Doesn't it seem like real change always starts with someone's weakness? @logan236, that idea of a coward made brave is everywhere, like when a quiet coworker has to speak for the whole team. You see it in small ways, like someone who hates conflict standing up for a friend. Pressure just pulls out a version of people they didn't know was there.
