My nephew asked why I still write prompts on paper, and I didn't have a good answer
My nephew came by the house on Sunday and saw my notebook open on the kitchen table, and he asked why I don't just use my phone. He's 19 and writes everything on his laptop, so the question was fair. I tried to explain that the paper makes me slow down, and slowing down makes me notice stuff I'd skip past on a screen. He said slower just means I forget the idea before I write it down. That got me thinking about how I've been doing this the same way since 2011, back when I was filling cheap spiral notebooks in a studio apartment in Akron. Now I'm wondering if I'm holding onto paper for a real reason or just because it's what I know. Anyone here switch from paper to a notes app and actually stick with it?
Slower doesn't mean you forget, it means your brain gets a second pass at the idea while your hand catches up. The phone is faster, sure, but fast is exactly why I skip the half formed stuff that ends up being the good part.
