My old creative writing teacher said prompts with rules kill better stories, and I think she was wrong
She told our workshop back in 2019 that any prompt with a word count or a required POV just makes people write safe, boring stuff. But I've gotten way more weird and honest drafts from a 200 word limit than from any wide open prompt, so now I hand my writing group a rule with every single one.
