Rant: My daily power swap prompt led to a plot nightmare

So I shared this writing prompt in our online group about a person waking up with a new power every day. It sounded cool, right? Like, super creative and full of options. But when I tried to write it, I got stuck on day three because the powers started to clash. For example, one day the character could fly, but the next day they were too heavy, so how does that work? I spent hours trying to fix it, but it just made the plot more messy. Learned my lesson: some prompts need more planning before diving in. Now I always sketch out a basic arc before starting with random idea prompts.

So when you hit that wall, how do you pick which power stays and which one goes? Do you let the plot decide, or do you have a rule for your character, like the newest power always wins even if it messes everything up? I tried a similar thing once and got stuck in the same loop of trying to make it all make sense.

Yeah, that clash thing is such a plot killer.

Feel like clash is what makes the plot most of the time. It just needs to be a good one, not a forced one.
