A 15 minute call with a viewer in Ohio flipped how I script my videos
Last Thursday I got a DM from someone who watches my channel, and we ended up on the phone for 15 minutes. He told me he skips my intros every single time because I spend too long on backstory before the actual tutorial starts. I never realized people were that inpatient, but he showed me his watch history and the drop-off was at the 40 second mark almost every video. So I rewrote my next script to put the final result in the first 10 seconds, then worked backwards. That video already has a 22% higher retention rate than my average. Has anyone else gotten feedback from a viewer that completely changed how they structure their content?

Cut the fluff and people actually stick around, that tracks with how most folks decide anything in five seconds flat. The same thing happens at a hardware store when someone picks a drill over a boring one just because the box shows the finished hole, not the motor specs. Getting told straight what the payoff is upfront beats earning it through a slow build every time.
