A client in Denver made me see thumbnails completely different
I was on a call last Thursday with a client who runs a small channel about hiking gear. She said my thumbnails were "too clean" and that viewers scroll past stuff that looks like an ad. That hit different because I've spent two years making everything super sharp with perfect contrast. She showed me her own thumbnails, they were a little crooked, text overlapping, even a finger in one corner. And her click rate is like 9 percent when mine sits around 3. I redid four thumbnails for her using her style, just messier and more real. They outperformed my originals within 48 hours. Has anyone else found that rougher looking designs actually pull better engagement than polished ones?

Did the messier ones actually feel more authentic to you, or was it more that they looked like less effort went in? Curious if that straight-up sloppiness is the hook or if it's something else entirely.
