A critique of my video pacing actually made me rethink my whole editing style
I've been making tutorial videos for about 8 months now and always thought fast cuts kept people watching. Last week a commenter said my videos felt rushed and they couldn't follow the steps. At first I got defensive, but then I watched my own stuff back with fresh eyes and yeah, I was skipping over important parts. So I tried a different approach on my latest video about color grading in DaVinci Resolve. I slowed down the intro, left in a few natural pauses, and repeated key steps once. That video got twice the watch time and even a few positive comments saying the pacing felt right. I'm still fighting the urge to cut every silence, but seeing those numbers changed my mind. Has anyone else had a viewer critique that actually improved their content?

Man, that hits home. Once you notice those rushed parts yourself it's hard to unsee them, isn't it? I bet that slower intro is what hooked people more than you think, like giving their brain time to catch up before you dive into the deep stuff.

There was this psychology study I saw about how people process info better when there's a natural pause before the heavy stuff. It said our brains need like 2-3 seconds to lock in before processing new ideas. So that slower intro you mentioned probably worked better than any fast-paced hook ever could. It's like giving listeners a mental breath before the roller coaster starts.
