Got roasted at the open mic night for relying too much on backing tracks

Ngl, I was at The Spot on Broadway last Thursday and after my set this older guitarist came up and said my loops were hiding my weak transitions. Been practicing without any tracks for 4 days now and it's brutal but I can actually hear what I'm messing up. Has anyone else had to completely switch up their live setup like that?

Reminds me of that time my cousin swore up and down she only had one beer at her work party. Turns out she was mixing her own drinks from the open bar and lost count around seven. Her boss found her trying to give a speech to the potted plant.
