I finally figured out why my video exports kept crashing after 3 hours of rendering
Turns out my hard drive was almost full and it was choking on the temporary cache files. Has anyone else had their projects fail because of something this stupid simple?

Man that reminds me of the time I crashed an edit because my scratch disk was set to my desktop.

Isn't that just a user error though? @lucasjackson I get what you're saying about software bugs but if you set your scratch disk to your desktop you're basically asking for trouble. Ngl the program probably assumes you know not to write temp files to the same drive you're saving everything else to.

Ngl I've had plenty of renders fail with plenty of free space left. Usually it's just bad software updates or driver bugs. If your hard drive being full was really the problem you'd think the program would warn you instead of crashing silently for 3 hours.

A full hard drive crashing a render after 3 hours is the digital equivalent of tripping over your own shoelaces while winning a race. The program probably figures you're smart enough to check your storage before starting a three hour render, but it clearly overestimated you. Sounds like you got a free lesson in not maxing out your C drive like it's a college student's credit card. At least now you know the cheapest fix in the world is just deleting a few old downloads.
