I was shocked to see my podcast hit 500 downloads in month one
I started a small podcast about running a roofing business about a month ago. I honestly thought maybe 50 people would listen, just some other local contractors. But when I checked the analytics last week I saw 527 downloads across the first 4 episodes. It surprised me because I barely promoted it, just shared on one Facebook group for small business owners. The episode that got the most listens was the one where I talked about a job that went completely sideways with a leaky flat roof. Has anyone else had a milestone come out of nowhere like this?

Wow congrats, I can barely get 5 people to listen to me talk about my cat's opinions lmao.

@emmawood you might be onto something though. Cats are brutally honest creatures so their opinions probably cut through the noise better than most people's.
Honestly the whole thing about getting people to listen is overrated. Everyone's so desperate for attention these days they forget quality matters more than quantity. Those 5 people who listen to you about your cat probably actually care about what you're saying.
Meanwhile some of us are stuck with a hundred followers who just scroll past and never engage. So maybe you're winning and don't even realize it.

Ha, reminds me of a buddy who spent months trying to grow his YouTube channel and got nowhere. Then @nora_walker57 is right, quality beats quantity every time because those five cat fans probably hang on every word. Sometimes less noise means more signal.
