Just wasted $45 on a light kit that didn't fit my setup
Bought this cheap LED panel from a random online store, claimed it was universal. Got it yesterday and the mounting bracket is like 2 inches too narrow for my C-stand. Anyone else run into this with budget lighting gear?

Oh man, that stinks! I had the exact same thing happen with a softbox that said it fit any speedring.

Has anyone else actually had good luck with those universal speedrings? In my experience, "universal" usually means it kind of fits a few mounts but not really any of them well. I get that it's a pain to file stuff down, but I've had to custom fit most of my gear at some point. Your mileage may vary, but I'd rather spend a few minutes with a file than deal with returns and waiting for the right part.

Bought a "universal" speedring for my buddy's softbox and it didn't fit his Godox mount either. Had to grind down the edges with a file just to get it to work. Such a pain.
