Lost 3 hours of editing when my cloud sync failed mid-session at a coffee shop in Austin
I was at Epoch Coffee finishing a final cut for a client when the auto-save decided to corrupt the whole project file, and I had to dig through my local cache backups while praying the battery didn't die - has anyone else had Dropbox screw up their timeline like that?

Epoch's a solid spot for getting work done, sorry you got burned there. Was the corruption tied to Dropbox trying to sync while you still had the file open, or did it happen after you closed and let it upload? I've had similar issues with Premiere auto-saving over a synced version and want to know if you noticed the conflict warning pop up before it all went sideways.

yeah I actually read something from a freelance editor who swears by turning off auto-sync on any folder you're actively working in and just manually syncing when you're done. seems like @davis.adam might be onto something though, cause I've had dropbox get real weird when it tries to grab a file that premiere auto-saved while it was still doing its thing. i mean maybe it's just me but I've noticed the conflict warnings don't always pop up in time, so I just started keeping a local copy until I'm totally done. idk if that helps but it saved me from losing a whole timeline before.
