Met a guy at a craft fair who insisted AI wrote his crochet patterns

He straight up told me his granny square blanket was designed by a chatbot, then got defensive when I asked if he'd actually tried following the pattern. The arms were two different lengths and the color changes didn't match up at all. Has anyone else run into people claiming AI did all the creative work for them?

Has anyone else noticed how this whole thing kind of feels like cheating the craft itself? I mean crochet is about the rhythm of your hands and fixing mistakes as you go. If you use a pattern that came from a bot, you're skipping all the small choices that make something handmade special. The uneven arms and bad color changes prove that the pattern was never tested by a real person. It's like baking from a recipe that was written by someone who never tasted flour.

Wait, do you think using AI-generated patterns is worse than using a poorly written pattern from a human who just doesn't test things? Like, is the problem really where it came from, or just that the pattern itself is bad?
