My laser engraver gave me pitted lines until I changed the air assist nozzle
I spent about 2 weeks dialing in settings on my 20W diode laser, trying to fix this weird pitting on my walnut coasters. Cleaned the lens twice, tried different speeds and power combos, nothing worked. Finally swapped the stock nozzle tip for a 1.5mm cone one I found in a drawer and it cut clean immediately. Has anyone else had a small hardware change fix a big output issue like that?

Bet my money it was just bad airflow causing the beam to scatter off the smoke. Lasers are picky little divas sometimes.
