Picked local stock photos over a pricey stock site for my thumbnails

I was stuck deciding between paying $30 a month for a big stock photo site or using free local shots from a photographer friend. Went with the friend's images and my last video got 40% more clicks because the thumbnails actually looked like my neighborhood. Anyone else struggle with spending money on visuals or sticking with what's free and local?

That local authenticity hits different. Big stock sites make everything look too polished and fake. People can tell when a thumbnail actually matches the real vibe of a place.
