PSA: My video editor quit over a 5 second intro debate last month
I wanted a quick intro for my Denver based hiking channel, but my editor insisted on a 15 second animated one. He said it looked 'more pro' and left when I pushed back. Are short intros really that unprofessional, or was he just being stubborn?

Short intros work fine, my hiking channel uses a quick five second one.

I mean, is a five second intro even a big deal? @alice_hart's right that it's fine, people just click past it anyway. Making a whole thing over a few seconds seems kinda extra, lol.

Actually, a true five second intro is pretty rare in practice. Most people say five seconds but it ends up being closer to eight or ten once you factor in a logo animation and the channel name. I've timed a few popular hiking channels and the shortest ones I found were still around seven seconds. But hey, if Alice has it down to a clean five with no filler, more power to her - that's genuinely impressive.
