Ran into a content creator at the park and it was silent

I was walking my dog and saw a creator I watch. I said hello and complimented their last project. They smiled but did not say much back. It made me see how often this must happen to them. Now I am not sure if I should say hi next time.

Stumbled upon an interview once where a creator mentioned how draining those quick park or grocery store interactions can be. They said the silence isn't personal, it's just that their social battery for the day is often completely used up from being "on" for the camera. Your compliment was likely appreciated, but they might have just hit their limit. Maybe next time a simple smile and nod is the way to go, just as polite and quick.

What if a quick thank you doesn't take much energy, @ward.jamie?

Ever think about the pressure to be always friendly? I read that for some people, being nice on demand all day is like working a double shift. We should probably cut them some slack if they're quiet sometimes.
