Rant: That "premium" zip tie kit I fell for was a total ripoff

I bought a $40 kit of reusable zip ties from a creator I follow, thinking they'd be great for cable management on my desk setup. They came in a fancy box and all, but the locking mechanism broke on 3 of them within a week. Now I'm back to using the basic $5 pack from the hardware store which works fine. Has anyone else gotten burned by overhyped gear from creators?

Funny enough, I've got a drawer at home that's become a black hole for those velcro strips too. Pretty sure there's a few in there that have been missing since 2019, right alongside a dried-out sharpie and a single AA battery.

Same thing happened to me with a kickstarter cable organizer... lasted maybe three days before the clips snapped. Best investment I made was grabbing a bag of those velcro cable ties off amazon for like eight bucks, they hold up way better and you can adjust them whenever. Reusable zips are a gamble, stick with the cheap stuff that actually works.

Totally, and it reminds me of this time I tried to organize my garage with those magnetic strips for holding tools... ended up with a wrench stuck to a rake and a screwdriver falling into the engine block of my lawnmower. Velcro ties are the way to go, but I swear half the battle is just finding a spot where you won't lose the extra ones you bought. I still have about twenty of them floating around in a drawer somewhere, mixed in with old batteries and junk mail.
