Spent 6 hours in my garage just to learn my mic stand was picking up my desk fan
Recorded the same 4 minute voiceover 23 times before I figured out the hum was my $12 clip fan, and moving it to the other side of the garage fixed it in about 30 seconds, so now I want to know what dumb little thing has cost anyone else a whole afternoon.
Wondering if that fan noise is really worth reading into that much, @kelly_craig. Like sure, a wobbly fan can sound weird for a second, but calling it an audition for voice work feels like a stretch to me. Half the time it's just a loose screw or some dust built up on the blades, nothing more. Kind of feels like people want it to be a bigger deal than it actually is. A fan making noise is basically what fans do when they get old or dirty. Not everything needs a funny backstory.
