Switching to a fine-tip brush for details cut my line art time in half

I used to do all my sketching with a thick brush pen and then go back in with a tiny liner to clean things up. Last month I forced myself to try a 0.3mm brush from the start for an entire character drawing. The before-and-after difference was huge my final lines were way smoother and I didn't have to erase stray strokes. It took about 4 drawings before I got used to the lighter pressure needed, but now I save at least 20 minutes per piece. Has anyone else found that swapping tools mid-process completely changes their workflow?

Nah, I gotta disagree with you there. I've found that starting with that tiny brush makes me way too tense and my lines come out all scratchy and nervous. I'd rather lay down loose, confident strokes with a bigger brush and clean them up after.

@hannahm39 yeah the "scratchy and nervous" thing is real. I get the same way if I start too small. I actually switched to using a flat brush for my initial sketches, like a size 6 or 8. Then I block in the big shapes and only go in with a tiny liner brush for the final details. Makes everything feel way looser.
