The scheduling gap I see in most creator content calendars

I was looking at a friend's content plan last week and noticed they block out time for filming and editing but never schedule the actual *thinking* part. Like the 30 minutes to brainstorm hooks or look at what's trending in our niche. I know for me at least, if I don't put "idea generation" on the calendar for Tuesday at 10am it just never happens and I end up rushing. Has anyone else found a specific way to protect that prep time without feeling like you're wasting it?

Right, because running on vibes and panic the night before always goes great. Blocking out time to literally stare at a wall and think feels like a waste until you try it and realize it saves you from three hours of doomscrolling for a decent hook. If it works for the robots in Hollywood, it'll work for the rest of us.

That 30 minute block saved me four hours of rewriting last week.

@ward.jamie nailed it with the "stare at a wall" thing. That idea generation block is the most productive 30 minutes of my week if I actually do it. People think it's lazy but it's really just planning smarter. Skipping it means you spend way more time later fixing bad hooks or scrambling for topics. Think of it as paying yourself first with time instead of money.
