Update: Watching a live stream fail opened my eyes about my own uploads

Streamer in Denver lost 200 viewers because his audio peaked for 10 minutes and nobody told him. I checked my last video's retention graph after that, turns out my intro was loud and rambly for the same exact reason. Anyone else found their audio issues by watching strangers crash live?

My last upload had a level meter sitting at -4db the whole time and I thought it sounded fine until I played it in my car. That Denver streamer thing is brutal though, 200 people just sitting there listening to garbage audio like it's some kind of test of loyalty. I checked my retention after reading your post and yep, the first minute falls off a cliff. Turns out I had my compressor set like a brick wall and everything sounded like it was coming through a tin can. The worst part is I spent like 3 hours tweaking the visual thumbnail that week and the audio was just a disaster nobody mentioned. Maybe we all need a friend who just screams at us when the levels look wrong.

Gotta admit @benclark, I've been that guy too. Spent an hour perfecting my intro graphic while my vocals sounded like they were recorded in a well. Now I just assume everything's broken until proven otherwise, saves me the heartbreak.
