Uploaded a 35-minute video and got 80% watch time, no idea why
I usually keep my stuff under 10 minutes because everyone says shorter is better. Last week I posted a long rambling tutorial on color grading in DaVinci Resolve, no script no edits. It averaged 80% retention which is nuts compared to my usual 40-50% on shorter stuff. Did I just get lucky or do people actually want more depth than these 2 minute TikToks suggest? Has anyone else accidentally found success breaking the 'rules'?

Yeah that whole "shorter is better" thing is just rules other people made up so they can feel smart. You basically proved the algorithm doesn't care about your video length if people actually want to watch it. Now you gotta sit here wondering if you should keep making long stuff or if it was just a fluke. Classic YouTube, giving you one good video then making you question everything.
