Went to a creator meetup in Denver and saw something that split the room

I was at this local creator mixer last week at a coffee shop called The Roost. The organizer brought in a guy who makes a full time income just from short form video on one platform. Half the people there were taking furious notes, saying this is the only real path now. The other half were shaking their heads, arguing you need a website and an email list to actually own your audience. It got pretty heated over the free pastries. So what's the move, go all in on one app or build your own hub off it?

The thing nobody's bringing up is the actual numbers on how fast those short form accounts burn out. I saw a study a few months back said the average shelf life for a creator hitting it big on one app is like 18 months before your views drop 60%. Meanwhile that email list takes forever to build but it's still there when the algorithm screws you. The coffee shop crowd was missing that the guys selling the "all in" dream are usually the ones who got lucky early and are now selling courses, not the ones who survived a platform pivot. I'd rather grind out a slow website than bet my rent on TikTok staying hot.

Ugh that's such a tough spot... feels like you can't win either way. I'm trying to do both and it's exhausting honestly.

Yeah @dakota_patel98, welcome to the club where the only prize is more coffee.
