Compared LastPass and Bitwarden for 6 months, the free one blew me away
I finally got fed up with LastPass after they changed their free plan last year (you know, limiting it to one device type). So I switched everything over to Bitwarden back in March, thinking it couldn't be as good since it's open source and free. Six months later and I've got no complaints - it actually syncs faster between my phone and laptop than LastPass ever did. The real kicker was when I timed how long it took to autofill a login on a slow site, Bitwarden did it in under 2 seconds while LastPass usually hung for like 5 or 6. Has anyone else ditched a paid password manager for a free one and found it works better?

Bet that's frustrating when the extension just doesn't work right. But honestly, I've had the exact opposite experience with LastPass. Every time I tried using it after the free plan change, it felt like it was fighting my browser. The autofill would pop up, then disappear, then show up again three seconds later. Bitwarden's been way more consistent for me across all my devices without any of that nonsense. Maybe it comes down to which browser or extensions you're running?

Honestly I have to disagree here. I kept LastPass for a year after the free plan change and never had autofill lag like you're describing. Plus Bitwarden's browser extension kept glitching out on me when I tried it, taking up to 10 seconds to even pop up on some sites. I'd pay the $36 a year just to avoid that kind of hassle with my passwords.

See, I had the opposite experience @paul286. Bitwarden's always been snappy for me, but LastPass autofill would freeze my phone browser regularly. Different setups I guess.
