Found my old laptop in the attic, it was a security time bomb

I was cleaning out storage and dug up a ten year old laptop. It still had all my old files and no updates for years, wide open to attacks. Just tossing it adds to e-waste and leaves data for grabs. I wiped the drive fully and took it to a certified recycler. Skip this step and you might as well post your passwords online.

Hey, did you use a program to overwrite the data? Just wiping might not erase everything on older drives.

Recommend a specific program for that?

Actually modern SSDs need a different method too, overwriting doesn't always work. Physical destruction is the only sure bet sometimes, right?
