Hit 50 free cloud storage accounts before I realized it was a problem

I kept signing up for free tiers thinking I was being smart about backups. After I hit 50 of them across different services, I sat down and did the math. The time I spend logging into each one is way more than the $10 a month I'd pay for one real plan. Anyone else end up with a messy pile of free accounts instead of just paying for one solid option?

@jamesm38 YES that's exactly what happened to me too. The self-hosting thing was fun at first but then I realized I was spending MORE time troubleshooting than Actually using my files. iCloud just works without me having to think about it, and that peace of mind is worth the monthly fee. Plus Honestly the family sharing makes it way cheaper than people realize when you split it. The photo syncing is way smoother too since I don't have to worry about it failing in the middle of the night.

Same thing happened to a buddy of mine. He built this whole NAS setup with RAID and everything, spent like two weekends getting it configured. Then his power supply died and he lost a week trying to figure out if the data was still there. He finally gave up and went back to Dropbox. I read somewhere that the average person spends about 40 hours a year just maintaining their own server stuff. That's basically a full work week you could be doing literally anything else. The family sharing is the part that sealed it for me too, my sister and I split a 2TB plan and it's like five bucks each. I'll take paying a little money over losing my photos again any day.
