Hot take: using the same password for 10 years finally bit me in the rear
Logged into my old gaming forum account last week and saw someone posted my email and hashed password from a 2014 breach, which taught me to check haveibeenpwned.com before ignoring those security emails from sites I haven't visited in years.

That line about "nothing ever happened to me" is exactly what I always hear. My buddy said the same thing until someone used his old Minecraft password to get into his Steam account and bought 200 bucks worth of CSGO skins. He had it linked to the same email with no two-factor. Even if it's just an old gaming forum, they can use your email to phish you or try that password on other sites. I'd rather be paranoid than sorry, @patriciah51.

Oh boy, here we go with the panic over a 10 year old password. Look, I get it's annoying but honestly how much damage can someone do with access to your old gaming forum account from 2014? Unless you were using that same password for your bank account and email which I'm guessing you probably were, but still. I've had passwords leaked from like 5 different breaches over the years and nothing ever happened to me. Just change it and move on, the sky isn't falling.
