I paid $80 for a 'security audit' that was just a guy running a free scanner

Found this service online that promised a full check of my home network for threats. The guy showed up, plugged in his laptop, and ran a tool I later found is free to download. Took him about 20 minutes and he gave me a printout of basic info anyone could get. Has anyone actually had a good experience with a pro coming to your house for this stuff, or is it all a scam?

That "full check" promise sounds so familiar... my brother-in-law got talked into something similar last year. The guy spent most of the time asking him what kind of router he had, then just read the info off the back of it. It felt like paying for someone to google things for you.

Ugh, that's the worst kind of service. Sounds like they just charged him for the most basic info possible.
