PSA: I picked a free password manager over a paid one and instantly regretted it

I chose a free option last month to save $36 a year, but it locked me out after a sync error and I lost access to 80 logins for three days. Has anyone else had a free password manager fail on them and what did you switch to?

Don't overlook the risk of FREE password managers selling your data to make their money. That's ALWAYS the tradeoff when you aren't paying - YOU become the product, not the customer. Some of those free apps get acquired by bigger companies who then change the terms overnight, leaving you locked out or with your data exposed. The $36 a year is basically insurance against getting screwed over by some corporate pivot nobody saw coming.

Respectfully, I see it a bit differently. Bitwarden's free tier is open source and has been around for years without selling data, and I'd argue the bigger risk is picking any manager without doing your homework first.
